On Saturday 18th January, there’s the opportunity to contribute to a plastic waste sculpture being built by the local Tweeddale Youth Action group Craft Punks outside the Eastgate. During the week of 11th to 18th January, save all the unnecessary plastic wrapping in your shopping and bring it along between 10 and 11 on the 18th. Your plastic waste could be part of Peebles’ first community waste plastic sculpture!
Photos of the sculpture will be in the press and at our stall at the Eastgate wild film festival on the 25th-27th January.
Tweeddale Unwrapped: On Thursday 31st January in the Eastgate, a panel will discuss recycling and how we can improve it. Are you confused about what you can recycle? Dominic Hodgkiss from SBC is going to tell us, and Miriam Adcock from Zero Waste Scotland and Kathleen Vaughn from Changeworks will address what’s happening nationally. There will be lots of time for discussion so come along with your questions…… and examples of your confusing plastic wrappings!
Looking forward to seeing you at one or all of our events!

The Community Garden
Our community garden is set in the heart of the community, the garden behind Victoria Park Centre in Peebles.
We run weekly volunteer sessions (Tuesday and Friday 10am – 12pm), with people of all ages, and work with service users from Victoria park centre.
We have activities for everyone, no green fingers needed and are always on the lookout for new volunteers to come and work with us, so please do get in touch if you fancy joining us. We encourage people to take home some garden produce when available. Activities range from mowing, strimming, planting out seedlings, sowing seeds, and watering, there really is something for everyone. Please email Nichole at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
We have lots of wonderful fruit and veggies growing, and enjoy trying to grow some unusual things in this Scottish climate. We have aubergines, cucumbers, tomatoes, pak choi and lots of salad in our polly tunnel, along with courgettes, beans, beetroot, potatoes, spinach, chard, kale, onions, sprouts, garlic, squashes, pumpkins, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, radish, carrots, and leeks, in our outdoor beds. Our produce is used in our Cook Kids cooking sessions and are currently supplying the Tontine Hotel, The Food Foundation and Windlestraw Lodge with organic fresh veggies.
Thank you to CCF for supporting this project.
