10/10 Day @ Peebles
Sep 1 all-day

InChorus will be 10 years old at the start of September, and in celebration the choir will be holding their ‘Ten out of Ten’ day at home in Peebles on Saturday 1st September. From 10am until around 10pm they will perform from a repertoire of ten of their favourite songs at ten different locations in the town, and they invite you to join them along the way.

They will begin on the steps of the Old Parish Church, close to their current rehearsal home, ending in a concert, the InChorus ‘Choir-aoke’, at the Eastagate Theatre, the choir’s first rehearsal location. The other sites are all places where InChorus has performed before, including supermarkets, Haylodge Hospital, Dovecot Court, outside the Tontine, and at other outdoor spots.

Look out for posters with rough timings and come along to say hello to the choir, and perhaps join in.

Tickets for the ‘Choir-aoke’ are available from the Eastgate Box Office. The concert is part of the Creative Peebles Festival. This will be a night like no other when, in addition to being entertained by InChorus, the audience can sing along, either from their seats in the theatre, or up on stage with the choir.

Please do come along.

Richard Durrant ‘Stringhenge’ Album Launch Tour at Eastgate Arts Peebles @ Eastgate Arts Centre
Sep 28 @ 7:30 pm – 9:30 pm

In his latest offering ‘STRINGHENGE’ (double album releasing September 2018), Shoreham composer and guitar virtuoso Richard Durrant is once again living on the folk/classical cusp with the first of these two L.Ps featuring a collection of solo instrumentals. The un-categorisable Durrant chose to record on a concert guitar crafted from a 5,000 year old English Oak by Gary Southwell, a four string Tenor Guitar made in Ditchling by Ian Chisholm (decorated with a silver Uffington Horse) and a humble ukulele. This style of guitar playing could be described as “English Folk Baroque” with echoes of Renbourn and Jansch.
Go and see Richard Durrant perform live to hear his unbelievable, top drawer, solo guitar playing. If you’re lucky you may even get an explanation as to why a catchy little track on side four of his double album is called “Frank Bough’s Allemande”. All is not as it first appears in the world of Richard Durrant, certainly not on Stringhenge! Photo Credit Kris Pawlowski
