Stobo Village Hall Winter Talks @ Stobo Village Hall
Nov 14 @ 7:30 pm

The first talk of this winter is “50 years of studies of the seabirds of the Isle of May” by Mark Newall of the Centre of Ecology and Hydrology. Doors open at 7.30 pm and admission of £3 on the night includes tea/coffee and biscuits.

The Isle of May at the entrance of the Firth of Forth is home to over 200,000 seabirds at the height of the breeding season, including spectacular populations of puffins, guillemots, kittiwakes and razorbills. The Isle of May Long Term Study has monitored the seabirds for over 5 decades. As Field Manager, Mark spends much of his working life on the island and is ideally qualified to explain what factors influence breeding success and the potential impact of the proliferation of offshore wind farms and of climate change.
