New website for Scottish Borders third sector

A new website to promote community groups, charities and social enterprises in the Scottish Borders has just been launched.

The site, at www.linknews.org.uk, enables third sector organisations to promote their work and activities at no cost.

It was created by Borders-based social enterprise Face PR, with funding from Blackhill Windfarm Community Fund.

Face PR Director, Kathleen Travers, explained: “We know that many local organisations, particularly the smaller groups, do not have the resources to develop and maintain their own websites. We wanted to offer all of them a free resource to help them get online and spread the word about what they are doing to a wider audience.

“If organisations do have their own websites, we will include that information too, so that people can find out more about them and their activities.

“As well as raising awareness among the public about the great work third sector organisations are doing here in the Borders, we hope that the website will also help them to connect with one other.”

Kathleen added: “Link is about complementing, not competing with, the communication channels that groups are already using. We want to encourage them to share their information with us, with the public and with one another.”

Organisations or community groups with information they would like to share on the website can e-mail hello@linknews.org.uk
