Peebles Concert Band recently enjoyed playing our Autumn Concert to a great audience at the Eastgate Theatre in Peebles, in November.
The band are now showcasing their music and representing the town to an even wider audience and on Saturday 3rd December PCB were excited to play for the first time at the Scottish Concert Band Festival regional heats in Livingston.
Prior to the performance, PCB’s Director of Music, Vaughan Fleischfresser said:
“Peebles has a wonderful tradition of community music making, and the Peebles Concert Band is very proud to be part of this tradition. With the band going from strength to strength, it is time for us to step onto the national stage and pit ourselves against the best concert bands in Scotland.
Our aim is simply to do ourselves and Peebles proud, and hopefully perform well enough to make the national finals next March in Perth. Whatever the case, this is simply the next exciting phase in the continuing development of the Peebles Concert Band”.
The band performed three pieces from a set list and were delighted at their first attempt to achieve a Silver Plus Award at the end of the day.
After an amazing two day event of forty band performances involving nearly two thousand performers,PCB are excited to have since discovered that the organisers have extended an invitation to the band to also play at the SCBF National Finals in Perth Concert Hall on Saturday and Sunday the 18th and 19th of March 2017.
SCBF Organiser Nigel Durno said “Please extend my warmest congratulations to your players for their achievement, and say that we are looking forward to their appearance as an SCBF National Finalist.”
