Peebles resident wins Age Scotland Award

Age Scotland is delighted to announce that Laura Scott, secretary of Peebles Pensioners Association, has been named the winner of the Inspiration Award at the Age Scotland 2017 Awards ceremony held at Perth Concert Hall.

Keith Robson, Chief Executive of Age Scotland commented, “Laura Scott is a shining example of how one person can change the world.  Her decision to take up the reins of Peebles Pensioners Association, saved the group from closure and in doing so, made the world of difference to local older people.  The group is a lifeline for many older people, helping connect them to the community and providing them with activities, tackling social isolation.”

The award was given to Laura in recognition of her incredible efforts to revive a local older people’s group in Peebles, and in doing so, helping to tackle loneliness and isolation.

To showcase Laura’s amazing work, Age Scotland has interviewed her and members of Peebles Pensioners Association members for a video that was shown at the awards ceremony.  You can view the video here.
