Change Works in Peebles is giving away up to £300 worth of loft insulation for one lucky household in Tweeddale. Change Works in Peebles aims to help residents cut their energy costs and reduce carbon emissions.
According to data analysis, only 63% of homes in Tweeddale have sufficient loft insulation, leaving 3,717 homes who have insufficient loft insulation or none at all. The recommended amount of loft insulation is 270mm, but this has increased from 100mm over the years so many people may need a top up or have fresh insulation installed. We’re encouraging the uptake of loft insulation as a quarter of heat is lost through the roof in an uninsulated house and it is one of the cheapest and most effective ways of staying warm at home.
Morag Cockburn, Senior Project Officer at Change Works in Peebles, said:
“Even if you have loft insulation installed, it’s worth checking to ensure you have the correct levels. We want to help raise awareness that insulating your loft is easier than you might think, as well as help you with ways to make your home warmer and reduce your energy bills”.
Residents can simply fill out this short survey http://bit.ly/LoftPrizeTweeddale and tell us how much loft insulation they have (if any) to enter the prize draw. Even if they have enough insulation, they can still enter for the chance to win a £50 shopping voucher. Anyone can enter and the prize draw closes January 10th, 2020. Terms and conditions apply and can be downloaded on request.
