Bowling has a long history in Peebles. As early as the sixteenth century there is mention of the bowling green on Castlehill. The present Peebles Bowling Club was instituted in 1829, making it one of the oldest in Scotland. In 1874 the bowling green was moved from Castlehill to our present site at Walkershaugh.
Whilst proud of our history, the Club now focuses on the present and future, and our members enjoy social events in the summer and winter as well as enjoying the main event of the Club – bowling.
We hope to build on our achievements of last season, where amongst other successes, we won the County Cup, but the main focus is for all members to enjoy themselves and the game. New members of all ages are always welcome, and if you would like to join us, or would like further information, please contact our secretary, (Lesley Hubbard, 01721 722372, Lesleyhubb@aol.com) or come along to our opening day and join the fun. For anyone who would like it, instruction from qualified instructors can be arranged, or you can simply have a go!
